Claims, Red Flags and What To Do About Them
March 17, 2017

Please join us for a webinar “Claims, Red Flags and What To Do About Them” presented by Tina Onassis, Homeless Student Liaison for Chichester School District. Tina’s background as a private investigator uniquely prepared her for her role as residency verification and truancy officer, and homeless liaison, for the district, with specific skills to verify family and student situations. The webinar will begin with a description of the rights and responsibilities of both families and LEAs with regard to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, and will also provide specific strategies that you can use in your work. You will learn how to investigate claims of homelessness, where to turn when a red flag is raised and how to ensure you are making the most accurate determination based upon your findings. There will be opportunities for discussion among participants and trainers as we explore sensitive, yet thorough, ways to assess McKinney-Vento eligibility.
